Yesterday was a very sad day to all EDM fans!!
The popular Swedish EDM DJ Tim Bergling, also known as Avicii, has died at the age of 28, his publicist has confirmed to multiple outlets.
Bergling’s body was found Friday afternoon in Muscat, Oman, a country on the Arabian Sea that borders Saudi Arabia, Yemen, and the United Arab Emirates.
“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the loss of Tim Bergling, also known as Avicii,” Diana Baron, his publicist, said in a statement. “He was found dead in Muscat, Oman this Friday afternoon local time, April 20th. The family is devastated and we ask everyone to please respect their need for privacy in this difficult time. No further statements will be given.”
He had a lot of health problems which can be reasons for this to happen. Bergling retired from performing live in 2016. He had both his gallbladder and appendix removed in 2014, and suffered from acute pancreatitis, a condition brought on by years of heavy drinking.
Bergling was nominated for two Grammys—one in 2012 for “Sunshine” with David Guetta, and another in 2013 for his hit song “Levels.” He may be most well known for his pop-infused 2016 single “Wake Me Up.”
Bergling’s cause of death has yet to be released.
